Split a PDF without uploading it
You need one page of a contract for a form, the chapters of a report as separate files, or a scanned stack cut back into the documents it came from. This tool splits a PDF right in your browser.
Your file stays on your device. The page reads and splits the PDF locally, so bank statements, contracts and medical records never pass through a server.
Three ways to split
Every page. Each page becomes its own PDF. A 12-page file gives you 12 files in one ZIP, named report-page-01.pdf, report-page-02.pdf and so on.
Page ranges. Type ranges separated by commas, like 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each range becomes one PDF: pages 1 to 3 go into report-pages-1-3.pdf, page 5 into report-page-5.pdf, pages 8 to 10 into report-pages-8-10.pdf. In the page grid, tap the first and then the last page of each file. Tap the same page twice for a one-page file, and tap a file to remove it. The field updates as you tap.
Extract pages. Tap the pages you want, or type them, and download report-extracted.pdf with just those pages in their original order. This is the quickest way to pull a single signed page out of a long agreement.
The field marks a range that cannot work before you start: 5-2 runs backwards, 0 is not a page, and a page past the last one does not exist.
What happens to the file size
The tool copies pages as they are. It does not render them as pictures or compress them again, so text stays selectable and scans keep their resolution.
Pages often share fonts and images. Each new PDF keeps everything its own pages use, so a one-page file can come out larger than you expect, and the parts of a split PDF can add up to more than the original.
Locked PDFs
Banks and online stores often send PDFs that open without a password but block printing or editing. Those split as usual, and the new files have no such restrictions. A PDF that asks for a password before it opens has to be unlocked first.
Large files
A computer handles files of a few hundred megabytes. Phones have less memory, so the tool tells you when a file is too large for your device instead of letting the page crash. The page grid draws thumbnails as you scroll, so a 300-page PDF opens without a long wait.
Questions and answers
Is it safe?
Yes. The PDF is split in your browser, and your file is never uploaded.
How do I write page ranges?
Separate them with commas, like 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each range becomes its own PDF, so this example gives three files.
How do I pull one page out of a PDF?
Choose Extract pages, tap the page in the grid, and download. You get a PDF with just that page.
Does splitting lower the quality?
No. The pages are copied as they are. Text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.
Why is a single page almost as big as the whole file?
Pages often share fonts and images. Each new PDF keeps the ones its pages use, so a one-page file can still carry a full font.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in Chrome, Safari and other modern browsers. Very large files may be too much for older phones.
