Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This policy explains what Heron Kit (https://heronkit.com) collects when you use the site. The short version: your files never leave your device, and we collect anonymous usage statistics and error reports.

Your files

Every tool on Heron Kit runs in your browser. When you add a file, your browser reads it and converts it on your device. We do not upload your files, file names or file contents to our servers or to anyone else. When you close the tab, the files and results are gone from the page.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and learn which tools people use. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, and whenever we cannot tell which country you are in, Google Analytics does not load until you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. Elsewhere it loads with the page. You can change your choice at any time under "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you decline, we stop Google Analytics and delete its cookies. Your choice is kept in your browser for six months.

When it runs, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and receives your browser type, device type, screen size, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the pages you open.

On top of page views, we send a few events from the tools: a file was added, a conversion succeeded or failed, a result was downloaded. Each event carries only the tool name, the input and output formats, a size range (for example, "1 to 10 MB"; for a ZIP of several results, the size of the ZIP) and the error type, such as "damaged file". We detect the input format from the first bytes of the file, not from its name. We never send file names, file contents or links to your files.

We also measure how fast each page loads, how quickly it responds to clicks and how much the layout shifts while it loads (Core Web Vitals). We send these numbers with a rating, such as "good" or "poor", and the page type, such as "tool page" or "home page".

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can block Google Analytics with a browser extension or your browser's tracking protection, and every tool keeps working.

Error reports

We use Sentry to find bugs. When a tool crashes, your browser sends Sentry a report with the error message, the tool name, the file format, and your browser and operating system versions. Sentry also receives your IP address with the request. We remove file names and links to local files from the report before it leaves your browser. Sentry stores reports under its own privacy policy.

Hosting

Cloudflare hosts the site. Like every web host, Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser details when your browser requests a page, and keeps them in short-lived logs for security and performance. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Advertising

The site does not show ads yet. When we add them, ad partners may use cookies to measure and personalize ads. We will update this policy before that happens and, where the law requires it (for example, in the EU and the UK), ask for your consent first.

What we do not do

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access or delete data about you. We cannot link analytics or error reports to a specific person, but if you have a request, email us and we will help as far as we can.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
